"REX" (Rex Coombs), a native West Virginian, was formally educated in the field of music. He was a voice major and piano minor at Glenville State College, a liberal arts Institute in the heart of the Mountain State. With performance roots in gospel choirs and quartets, pop bands  and musicals (playing the roles of Judas in "Jesus Christ, Superstar" and Jesus in "Godspell") he continues to perform today as a keyboardist and vocalist.

Rex began a broadcasting career in October, 1969. The next seven years brought vast experience in dealing with the public -- from on-air radio programs and personal appearances, to studio commercial production. In 1977 Rex shifted his emphasis to the Sales side of broadcasting, and developed marketing and sales campaigns involving newspapers, billboards, direct mail and broadcast media.

In 1984 Rex joined a local computer hardware maintenance company as its Director of Marketing. While responsibility for sales activity was his primary focus, great expertise was gained in all aspects of the computer industry.

When joining the band "Heartland" in February 1986, Rex brought to the band his fifteen years of experience. In September 1988, he joined "Big Lou and the Move", touring Ohio, Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. This experience included the making of a music video -- The Thief. Then in 1991 Rex became one of the founding members of "Brother To Brother", a five piece rhythm and blues band that toured throughout northeastern Ohio until early 1997.

His strong vocal skills are complimented by Kurzweil and Alesis synthesizers.  Rex currently entertains as a soloist, playing Supper Clubs, Country Clubs, special events, and he plays keyboards and sings for a Doo Wop - Rockin' - Soul act called "Tailor Made Classics."  There are currently dates available in Rex's schedule.  Contact Rex to schedule him for your upcoming event.

REX Productions, formed in 1994, provides an outlet for all of his career experiences to work together in the performance of music and in commercial production.  Rex is the Production Director for Stark County Radio Stations  AM 1310 WDPN and Q-92 FM  and is the Morning Show Host of WDPN's "Unforgettable Favorites" each weekday from 6:00AM to Noon.
